Istiqaamah: straightness; sincerity; uprightness; rectitude; integrity; honesty; soundness
Masjidul Istiqaamah is a non-profit Salafi organization based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our aim and objective is to call our brothers and sisters in Islaam toward the straight path; the path of the Prophets and Messengers; the path of the Sahaaba; and the path of those blessed generations that followed them, may Allah be pleased with them all. We have put this effort in motion by bringing our community closer to the speech of our ‘Ulema, those scholars from Ahlus Sunnah – the inheritors of the Prophets whom Allah has placed in every time to lead the people in their religious affairs.
The seeds of our da’wah began around the Fall season of 2013 when our brother Aboo Zubayda Na’eem ibn Wright was requested to give the khutub at one of the musaalas in downtown Cincinnati. Having recently moved to Cincinnati from out-of-state, he began calling the people with what they were in dire need of, Tawheed and the Aqeedah of as-Salaf as Saaleh. By the will of Allah the khutub were well received by many of the brothers and sisters attending, and Aboo Zubaydah was given full autonomy of the religious affairs in this particular place. Lessons were put into effect three days a week going over aqeedah, fiqh, and the Arabic language, and this continued for approximately 6 months or so. As the Qadr of Allah would have it, those who oppose the truth could eventually no longer take it and Aboo Zubaydah was notified via text message that he was not to serve as the Imaam in this building anymore.
At this point it had become painfully clear to us that the Salafi Muslims in Cincinnati, although they may be few, have nowhere to worship their Rabb and call the people to the truth. We were in need of a place where we would control the da’wah and religious affairs, free from political agendas, free from the desires of big numbers and overflowing sadaqa boxes, free to refer back to our righteous predecessors in every affair without the contamination of modernist ideologies. This is something Cincinnati needs and it is something that Cincinnati has never had.
We came together, agreed upon the name ‘Masjidul Istiqaamah’ and selected those brothers who would serve as the adminisration, handling the affairs of the masjid and being responsible and trustworthy to their community. Those key brothers that make up the idaara are:
Aboo Zubaydah Na’eem ibn Wright – Imaam
Abdul Kareem Sewell – Mudeer
Abu Mohamed Abdul Kareem ibn Hagedorn – Public Relations
Demba Koita – Treasurer
Rasheed Simmonds – Legal Dept.

“Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islaam), enjoining al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Tawheed and all that Islaam orders one to do) and forbidding al-Mukhar (shirk and kufr and all that Islaam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful.” [Surat ‘Ali Imraan, Ayah 104]
“Verily, those who say: “Our Lord is Allah (Alone),” and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Jannah which you have been promised!” [Surat Fussilat, Ayah 30]
