Fidgeting with the Beard in Prayer – Sh. Abdullah bin Aqeel رحمه الله
Q: Fidgeting with the beard in prayer and similar to that, inadvertently does this invalidate the prayer?
A: Fidgeting diminishes (i.e. the reward of) the prayer without a doubt, and it is from that which negates humiliation (al-khushoo’). If prolonging the deed as it is known, without dire need and no distinction, then the prayer is invalidated whether it is intentional or by forgetfulness.
Although, if there are not many movements, or if they are many but they are not continual, then verily this does not invalidate the prayer. Meaning; it is not binding upon him to repeat it (i.e. the prayer). Otherwise, it (i.e. the previous actions) will decrease some of the prayer to the degree of his fidgeting. And Allah knows best.
